Adapted by Max Marriott and Scott W. Gist from the seminal short stories of Robert W. Chambers, The King in Yellow is 3 stories loosely connected by a play which drives those who read or see it irrevocably mad.
Throughout the stories we see glimmers of this play as video projections, further blurring the line between madness and the supernatural forces that may or may not be at play.
The first story “The Repairer of Reputations” follows a deluded young man, Hildred Castaigne, who becomes obsessed with the play and involves himself in a dark conspiracy.
The second story “In the Court of the Dragon” follows Constance, a woman who has been traumatised by the events in the first story and falls into a living nightmare.
The final story “The Yellow Sign” follows Jack and Tessie, an artist and his muse as the evil play works its way into their relationship and their downfall.
